点评：Dunnottar is a Jewel of the North East . Seeing it from the cliffs of Stonehaven, you realize that this isn't just a castle; it’s an island fortress that seems to grow directly out of the conglomerate "pudding stone." My obsession with medieval architecture always brings me here, to a place where nature provided the defense and man provided the defiance. This is the ultimate "unconquerable" site.
The approach is a masterclass in psychological warfare. You have to descend into a deep cleft and then climb back up a narrow, exposed path. As a photographer, you can feel the pressure of the architecture—the way the gatehouse looms over you, forcing you to look up. In its glory, this path was a gauntlet. Every step you take was designed to make an outsider feel vulnerable, while the massive stone walls above remained indifferent to the crashing waves below.
