What many visitors don’t realise is that this church went through a very serious structural risk in recent years. Emergency restoration works were carried out in 2020 to prevent further deterioration and protect the building.
Those works helped save it.
Today, the church continues to require care and restoration, and efforts are still ongoing to repay the emergency funding that made those works possible. Until that is completed, further restoration work cannot continue.
Visiting it gives a real sense of the history and resilience of Jávea. It is not just a monument, but a living part of the town’s identity.
