点评:Portobello Market is a vibrant place to visit. It was a Saturday, no rain and around 12 degrees. Not particularly busy. Started at Nottinghill Gate station and walked to Ladbroke Grove. Near Nottinghill Station there was a Farmers Market 10-2pm. However, note they pack up from 12:30pm (clear signage, to a nearby School’s playground).
The actual market coming from Nottinghill
is a great deal down the road. However, many shops on route. The ‘entire’ walk is nearly a mile of shops and then many markets stalls. Generally selling the same overpriced tat from abroad. Antiques (not sure of the authenticity), however, purchased some lace. No shortage of a bakery or place for a coffee. Accessories from hats, gloves and scarfs in abundance. Leather and fur coats and lots of cutlery. The market is definitely for tourist. Note I generally don’t see British people dressing in the styles selling, for example many places selling Kantha Jackets. Plenty of souvenir’s available.
On a winters day it’s something to do (been to all the markets) can get a bit of exercise, and a warm drink and pastry.
