点评:The revamped Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery fails to impress to start with. The initial galleries on either side of the shop are underwhelming and a poor introduction to the treasures to be found further in. The Pre-Raphaelites and Staffordshire Hoard are particular highlights and well wortha visit. In addition the temporary Joe Lycett exhibition was fun and thought provoking.
The cafe in the old Edwardian Tearoom was truly awful. The coffee was undrinkable, watery and bitter, in a cheap looking plastic beaker. It settled with a scum on the top. No glasses were available for cold drinks, just plastic disposable cups. On an earlier occasion I had the soup which was tasteless and watery. The main museum in Britain's second city should have a cafe that encourages customers to return. The poor quality means that I will not be doing so....very disappointed.
