点评:but you need to walk around the crowds. This is easy, as crowds don't necessarily go for the treasures here - no idea why the Rembrandt room was almost empty.
Access through the Sainsbury Wing is convenient; you can get a free ticket (mine was never checked) from their website on the phone. They try to bully you into donating but that's understandable seeing it is a free museum, which is amazing.
I spent this time focused on pre-Raphaelite art, and on still lifes, all absolutely world class. Some say "it is not a big museum" but paintings are well chosen, and you can't even take all this in. The new, populist hanging has settled in; it is not an upgrade, what with fake and schoolmarmish themes, but so be it.
I was struck this time by the running theme of much art as a comment on the politics of a former British colony, quite large and powerful - to see what I mean, check the pictures attached to this review. :-)
