Free Guided Tours - Tues, Wed, & Thurs from 3 - 5pm
英国国家美术馆的点评
点评：The British Museum is one of the best free things that you can do in London. However it is so big that it is easily overwhelming. With limited time we picked a few highlights that we wanted to target and then allowed ourselves to browse a little.
On my must-see list was The Ambassadors by Hans Holbein. It is one of the most intriguing paintings with a strange, hidden skull in the forefront of the canvas. Viewed from a certain angle, the skull appears. Move a little, and it disappears and morphs into the painting. If you have kids with you, this will get their attention. You will find it in Room 4.
We also wanted to see the Michelangelo’s "Manchester Madonna," (Room 51) which I’d not seen before. Only partly finished, these sketches have ghostly figures in the background that hover around Mary.
You could easily spend hours here but if like us, you have limited time, then it’s helpful to have pre-planned what you want to see and what you will (reluctantly) skip.
TIP:
If you can, try to make one of the free guided tours. They are on Tues, Wed & Thurs from 3 - 4pm. Unfortunately our timing didn’t coincide with the tours this time but we have done them before and they have been fabulous.
