Why are the interiors so disappointing?

点评：Being our closest NT property, we are yearning for it to be magnificent, and yet again after 4 visits in 20 years it still isn’t.
1)The LIBRARY was devoid of all its alluring furnishings, apart from two tables pushed at the side.
2)The SALOON was being cleaned with scaffolding after having been closed for 4 winter months, by which time the work should have been finished and the interior presented for its visitors.
3)The LONG GALLERY was very plain without its grand pictures that were stored in a tapestry hung ante room (preventing viewing of the tapestries).
4)The ‘Boudoir’ (as we like to call it), had its newly cleaned tapestries on show, but was again devoid of the charming furnishings, china and object d’art that made this such a highlight gem of a room.
5) The Dining room, had lost its dining table, that was usually beautifully laid.
6)Lastly a volunteer told us in no uncertain terms, that WE ( in other words the volunteers) liked the interiors empty so WE ( the visitors) can see empty walls.
….Is this really what the family left their home for? Surely the family wanted visitors today’s to experience their treasured interior, furnishings and possession's, as they had enjoyed them themselves!
Having visited almost every single NT house in the UK (as is our passion), this now ranks as one of the most disappointing properties in the NT portfolio, we suggest visitors after beauty, period rooms and atmospheric charm should go to Calke Abbey, Errdig, Cragside, Lanhydrock, Felbrigg, Waddesdon, Wightwick or Snowshill, instead.

5）餐厅里，那张通常摆放得十分精美的餐桌也不见了。
6）最后，一位志愿者毫不含糊地告诉我们，我们（也就是志愿者们）喜欢室内空荡荡的，这样我们（游客）就能看到空荡荡的墙壁。
……这真的是这家人离开故居的初衷吗？他们肯定希望今天的游客能够像他们自己一样，体验他们珍爱的室内装潢、家具和物品吧！
我们几乎参观过英国所有国家名胜古迹信托基金会（NT）的房产（这是我们的爱好），而这座庄园现在被我们列为NT名胜古迹信托基金会旗下最令人失望的房产之一。我们建议，如果游客想要欣赏美丽的景色、古色古香的房间和迷人的氛围，不妨去卡尔克修道院、埃尔迪格庄园、克雷格赛德庄园、兰海德罗克庄园、费尔布里格庄园、沃德斯登庄园、怀特威克庄园或斯诺希尔庄园看看。
