点评:I struggled with the rating for Beaulieu as on one hand it is as advertised but on the other it's missing something and there is just something not quite right for what is considered to be such a great attraction.
Let's start with the main reason to go to Beaulieu, the cars. An absolutely fabulous display in the main museum dating from the early 1900's right up to an amazing modern Rolls Royce with everything in between. Some very unique vehicles with lots of character. Although I would say they are trying to cram in way too many with a full view around alot of the vehicles impossible.
As a huge Top gear fan it was great to see some of the vehicles used on the show. Other reviews mentioned the poor quality of the cars, obviously have no idea what some of these vehicles went through on their journeys! That being said, I would have thought these vehicles are a bit more worthy of the giant gazebo they are stored in?
The star car exhibit took all of 2 minutes with only 6 or 7 vehicles in there. There were more child amusement machines than actual display vehicles. I came with my 6 and 7 year old children and felt these toys were just an unnecessary distraction.
On the subject of young children, the Little Beaulieu playground is amazing and a great place for the kids!!
The monorail for me is not a winner but has long been a part of Beaulieu. I can only imagine how much it costs to run and maintain this but does not bring anything to the overall experience. It passes through the main museum (not providing the greatest view) and then around the gardens.
The cafe was pretty good, a reasonable selection of food items with minimal wait times.
Back to my title, "value for money". £62 for 1 adult and 2 children. There are other attractions in the South that offer a lot more for a lot less money. The business model for Beaulieu has not really changed in the last 20 years and it feels like the owners/management are resisting the need to change with the times and develop the business and make it a full day attraction as opposed to the few hours you can get round in. Beaulieu could be so much more than what is which is really disappointing. I used the gift aid option when booking but would I return even for free, highly unlikely and this is how I rate attractions. Could I go around again and still enjoy it, I can't say I would at Beaulieu.
What has really put me off returning though was the customer service experience or lack there of. From entry to exit, every team member we interacted with really seemed like they hated their job and did not want to be there. Zero enthusiasm, zero effort to interact with guests, zero effort when asked questions. The lady on entering seemed shocked even slightly offended that I had brought children along? A gentleman in the museum felt the need to scream out "do not touch the cars" even though my child was a good 2 metres away and was merely pointing out something she had seen. Great customer service is the key to any attraction and this is unfortunately non existent during our visit
Beaulieu, you are good but could be so much better than what you are! Please develop and deliver that real WOW factor people are looking for from an attraction!
