点评:The castle itself is impressive from the road but is just a shell, following a fire. It is free to visit. When you arrive, there is a small car park on the road opposite and access to the site is over a stile just to the right of the Suck Valley Way. You can walk around the castle but the gate is padlocked and blocked by nettles. There is no additional information on the site but you can find some history online. To be honest - the best few is from the car park!
After a 5 min walk around the castle (which is in a cow field), we decided to investigate the Glinsk Heritage Park, which is next to the car park. This is a lovely walk of about 750m along a babbling stream and over a series of stone bridges. At the end, you can either retrace your steps or take the woodland paths to the left or right. We took the right hand path first, which took us back to the car park but sadly, the final part involved crossing the stream via partially submerged stepping stones! As the flow was rapid, we chose to retrace our steps and take the left hand path. This is next to the (quiet) road and drops down gently to the car park. We enjoyed the walk and the park is lovely and peaceful. Please be aware that the water is deep so young children need to be closely supervised.
Worth a look if you are in the area.
