点评：A must see if you’re in the Isle of Man! This was my first time on the MER in about 20 years. Unsurprisingly, not much has changed and nor should it.
The terminus is located about 15 minutes walk from Douglas centre. It’s a pleasant walk in good weather; the horse drawn trams are another option.
The website either had an outdated timetable, or we read the wrong one - be sure to double check before you arrive (we ended up having a one hour wait)
Time from Douglas to Ramsey is 1h 15m. If you’re doing this and want to explore Ramsey, I’d recommend setting the best part of one day aside. Maybe more if you’re doing Snaefell / Laxey etc.
Tickets can be purchased at the Douglas terminus, and there are offers (eg 3, 5 day passes etc). Sitting in the inside unit is more comfortable than the outside, which has wooden seats…not ideal for over an hour along a twisty and at times, oddly bumpy, railway!
All in all, I highly recommend. A very unique and interesting piece of history
