Barwon Park and its tour guide, Toni, we're fantastic!

点评：What an experience. Our tour guide, Toni, was lovely, incredibly knowledgeable and deeply passionate about the history of Barwon Park and its surroundings. She guided us through not just the history of the 2 families that lived there, the Austen's and the Batson's, and especially the life and times of Elizabeth Austen who was an incredible woman by all metrics.
Myself, my partner and our daughter were the only ones on the tour and Toni made sure to give us our money's worth as she extended the tour by almost an hour (which was excellent!) --- really giving us the time to chew through the many questions and curiosities we had and for her to pepper us with tidbits about the social hierarchy of the era and it's many complex nuances.
I will say, however, it is criminal that this place is run by volunteers because they absolutely deserve to be paid (and well!) for their time, their effort and their knowledge.
I'll be telling my friends about Barwon Park and its excellent tours in the future.
