点评:The museum has fine and well-set out collections, not over-loaded but tastefully and sensibly laid out. We went to see the retrospective of photographer Don McCullin - a poignant and well-selected collection.
Sadly organisation and safety left some problems for the Museum. As we entered from the forecourt we had to avoid a rectangular gap in the threshold where a workman had removed a plate to access the door opening mechanism - this was an unforgivable risk and no one had laid a cover over it or was stationed there to warn visitors.
The cafe was very full at lunchtime - we had made several visits to it to try and find a table ( outside was cold and hence unpopular), over the period we tried to get seated ( just over an hour) two members of staff sat in a corner table working on laptops. This is inappropriate, inconvenient and unprofessional. Many older visitors, some worth mobility difficulties struggled to get seated. Is there no other space for them in the building?
The gardens behind the Museum are peaceful and relaxing to stroll in.
