点评：I visited the Abbey with my husband who is a wheelchair user and therefore my ticket was free of charge due to being my husband’s carer and his ticket full adult price. The Abbey is breathtaking, the fan vaulted ceiling is fantastic and really makes the visit worth it. Although no longer a Cathedral it is easy to see why it once was. It is very grand and still has a cathedral feel. The whole Abbey is wheelchair accessible with a lift to the small museum in the basement which is very interesting.
There is space to sit in quiet and contemplate, pray in solitude, light a candle or sit in the nave and take in the grandness of the building. The stained glass is really something to behold, and it’s so nice going just before Easter with the stations of the cross on display. The building has a lovely atmosphere of peace and calm. As a tourist visitor it is beautiful and historical. As a spiritual visitor there is an atmosphere of being close to God.
I would thoroughly recommend a visit, even if just to take in that ceiling.
