A Disappointing Experience
简·奥斯汀纪念馆的点评
点评：I am a Jane Austen fan and was looking forward to visiting this center, but in the end the experience was somewhat disappointing.
First of all, the staff at the reception desk was rather unfriendly. She said she would provide us with a translation in our language during the introductory talk, but unfortunately it was out of stock. I hope this was only a temporary situation, considering that there must be Austen fans from all over the world visiting this center.
Also, the introductory talk about Austen’s life was given by a costumed staff member. It was interesting, but he tried to include a lot of information about Jane Austen and her family history in a short time, around 10–15 minutes. As a result, he had to speak very quickly, which made it difficult to understand, especially for tourists whose first language is not English.
The Austen-related exhibits were adorable, but I felt that the style of the exhibition was somewhat outdated.
After that, we stayed in the tea room for about thirty minutes and had a pot of tea. The quality of the tea was good, and the staff there were friendly.
Overall, I do not regret visiting this center, but I feel that the entry fee is a bit expensive considering the somewhat outdated exhibition style.
