点评:So much incredible history! My 80 yr old Mom and best friend went to the Tower of London 2 weeks ago on a Monday. We decided to go at our own pace and not through a tour company. We rode the tube from Charing Cross to Tower Hill about 8:30am. We had tickets for 9:00am entry. The admission fee was very reasonable. The line was already forming and we were about 60th in line. It was crowded but not overly. The staff was so organized and there were no complications. Everything is very laid out with lots of signs. We decided to take the advice of others and visit the Crown Jewels first thing! It is in the back of the castle to the left of the entry. We chose NOT to purchase the audio guide as we wanted the Yeoman/Beefeater experience. At the entrance to the crown jewels there was no line and we just walked in. Very very classy and elegant. I'd describe it as royal. The history is magnificent and everything is beautiful and clearly marked. No photography is allowed. From there we went into the Medieval Palace and walked the walls over to the East Wall Walk where we came down. It is a lot of walking but if you are healthy you should be fine. My Mom chose to sit out on the White Tower. The signage tells you it is a total of 206 steps ahead of time! It was beautiful. So much to see! So many Kings and Queens armour, horses (models) and information! The oldest complete chapel is also in the White Tower dating back to 1080. After this we went to the moat to pick up a Beefeater tour. Our Yeoman was Scott Kelly. HE IS HILARIOUS!! As well as a great knowledge of history. He tells tales you do not want to miss! After his tour (about 45 minutes) we went over to the memorial where the beheading block stood. Then into The Chapel Royal of St Peter ad Vincula where Anne Boleyn and Lady Jane Grey have their resting places. Fascinating!! We finally left for some lunch around 1:00pm and did not see everything, but enough. I highly recommend this wonderful adventure!!
