点评:The Voice at Embankment Station is Worth Hearing! On our busy December 2025 London vacation, we took The Tube everywhere. It's clean, on time, safe, not too hot, not smelly, and well-priced. I have been on many a subway or train car where I really wanted to put my scarf over my face so that I could breathe more comfortably, but The Tube gave me no such consternation. Here's a fun tip for the wise traveler: if you travel on The Tube, listen to the various voices at the different stations announcing the famous "Mind the gap" and other information. The Embankment Station, in particular, features the voice of Mr. Oswald Lawrence, may he rest in peace. Apparently, Lawrence's widow would visit the station just to hear his voice. Perhaps she still does? I don't know. In any event, I, too, wanted to hear this sentimental, wonderfully sonorous voice and send my good thoughts to the family. I am very glad we stopped at this station for a quick moment on our trek from our morning Hampton Court (King Henry VIII's Palace) tour, connecting to our afternoon Globe Theater tour.
