Portland Castle的点评
点评：We ended up visiting Portland Castle after discovering that Lulworth Castle was closed, and we’re so glad we did!
Although the castle is quite small, it was definitely worth the visit. It’s full of history, well preserved and offers lovely views across the harbour. The location is beautiful, and the relaxed atmosphere meant we could take our time exploring without feeling rushed.
The castle and grounds were clean and well maintained, and everything was easy to navigate. The staff were friendly and welcoming, but a special mention has to go to the lovely lady in the gift shop. She recommended that we drive up to the Olympic Rings viewpoint after our visit, and we’re so glad we took her advice. The views from the top were absolutely breathtaking and became one of the highlights of our trip.
For the admission price, we felt it offered great value for money, especially if you’re an English Heritage member. There are also good facilities, including a gift shop and information boards that bring the castle’s history to life.
Overall, Portland Castle may be smaller than some other English Heritage sites, but it’s packed with character and well worth a visit. We’d happily recommend it to anyone exploring the Dorset coast.
