点评：If you are anywhere near Poreč, the Euphrasian Basilica is an absolute non-negotiable. This UNESCO World Heritage site is one of the most beautifully preserved examples of early Byzantine architecture in the Mediterranean, and it completely blew me away.
The highlight is undoubtedly the 6th-century gold mosaics in the main apse. Seeing the sunlight catch the intricate gold tiling is a surreal experience—they still glow with the same brilliance they did 1,500 years ago.
Beyond the main church, the ticket gives you access to the entire complex. We walked through the peaceful central atrium, explored the ancient bishop's palace with its archaeological fragments, and climbed the bell tower. The climb up the tower is narrow but well worth it; the panoramic views over the terracotta rooftops of Poreč’s old town and the sparkling Adriatic Sea are spectacular.
The complex is incredibly well-organized, clean, and has helpful informational plaques throughout. It feels intimate and spiritual, far less commercialized than similar historical sites in larger European cities.
Pro Tip: Go early in the morning when the light hits the apse perfectly and you can enjoy the quiet before the midday crowds arrive!
