Incredible Exterior Architecture
安大略美术馆的点评
点评：We simply did not have the chance to visit the Gallery interior. However, on a Sunday morning walk we did have the chance to walk the outside. While I am sure the art inside is amazing (#2 listed Art Museum in Canada), the exterior is equally incredible to see which was one of the main objectives of the morning walk.
The building is a combination of an historic home and cutting-edge modern architecture. The original structure is The Grange a manor home once well outside the town of York built by the influential Boulton family. The home, which is the 12th oldest (1817) surviving building in Toronto and its oldest brick home, eventually became the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD) which is now housed in a suspended two-story structure adjacent to the Grange and its grounds. Between the Sharp Center for Design and the museum with the exterior curving stairwell, the architecture is some of the most forward display of modern buildings in Canada, and they are a great juxtaposition to the Grange home. While I hated to miss the interior, the exterior was totally worth the visit.
