Excellent private tour of American Sector beaches with private guide

点评：We were blessed to have Eric Turnbull as our guide for 2 days touring the American Sector beaches. Eric is highly knowledgeable and does a great job of communicating this overwhelming amount of information in a way that weaves a story of the entire D-Day campaign from the US perspective. We told him months ago when booking that we planned for 2 day guided visit and then would follow with one day on our own to see museums, monuments, etc. Based on that, he recommended a 2 day concentration on the main sites familiar to Americans - but we still received information on the entire D-Day events with enough detail to help us understand.
We saw many other "guides" on our days together and could not have chosen a better person for us. We thought we would only come to the beaches once in our lifetime - so wanted to make the best of our time and have a private guide. The big bus tours or even smaller vans weren't going to do justice for what we hoped to experience. We were not disappointed !
We spent two lengthy days together and never felt we were rushed, given a canned presentation, or a bother with our endless questions. In fact, we think we hit it off well and highly recommend this experience. Eric's memory is photographic for all things WW II and D-Day in particular. We knew we were getting facts and not editorial opinion and he really put us right there.
A memorable conclusion to our visit was the time at the American Cemetery at the end of the second day where he tastefully described the setting but then left us alone to experience the emotions of being there with the silence broken by Taps. Our time together could not have concluded in a more meaningful way.
Any time and expense you spend on a private tour with Eric will be memorable.
