We had a quite extraordinary day with Eric. Our group had two Brits and two Americans and we had a one day tour of the British and Canadian beaches.
Eric devised the whole route based on questions I had asked in advance. He is a superb guide. Deeply knowledgeable, he is immersed in the history of the War, especially D Day itself. If you have any personal connection you wish to explore he will almost certainly have the answers. He knows every inch of the battlefield sites and will talk you through the events of the day with great precision and clarity. And also with passion. Eric actually cares about what happened in Normandy and is determined to respect those events as he brings them to life.
I had sent Eric a war photograph of my father’s ship on D Day in advance. At the end of our tour, he took us to the exact spot where my father would have been on June 6th. Arriving there, he read out a description of the day written by one of Dad’s crew that he had been able to discover somewhere in the archives. I had never heard it before. It was deeply moving and such an amazing thing to have done.
