AN ABSOLUTELY MAGNIFICENT STRUCTURE ....and evening programme !!!
圣母大教堂（圣母圣殿）的点评
点评：On our week-long vacation to Montreal we hit the Basilica on my birthday and the ONLY day it was closed for a staff meeting!!! However, the attendant suggested we combine a visit with the evening SON ET LUMIERE (sound and light) performance called THE AURA EXPERIENCE. It was the BEST surprise birthday present I could have had!!!!
Fortunately for us this VERY POPULAR event (I HIGHLY recommend buying your tickets ahead of your visit) had a few GENERAL ADMISSION tickets available and when the website suggested coming for first door opening at 5:30 p.m. it was A DEFINITE!!!!
Sitting on the hard pews (...about a third of the way down on the main aisle) for half an hour was worth it. The dark setting, immersive ethereal music and magnificent visual of the chancel and alter area was a subtle prelude to the following 30 minutes of an unbelievably beautiful sound and light show embracing the architectural and artistic splendor of the basilica.
I could not believe anybody, let alone groups of people coming in close to 6 p.m. and expecting to find seating. The church was PACKED!!!! As well, this is NOT a performance for YOUNG CHILDREN as the music and visual laser show are quite intense...but fabulous.
After the finish you are allowed to look around the basilica for about half an hour so it is a great combination price for the evening visit.
