A fabulous NTS site - so worth a visit

点评：My wife and I, both of us senior citizens, were up from the Midlands visiting family and were sitting around the house late one weekday morning wondering what to do when this place came up on our Google search which was quite convenient as we are both NTS members. We got in the car and drove the 50 minutes up to Falkland, and as we hadn’t done any research had no clue where to park on arrival, but we soon found the free car park at Back Wynd (the property doesn’t have its own parking), and then walked the short distance down the alleyway to the palace. Now we intended having a bite to eat in the palace’s café, but instantly came across a problem in that there is no café at this NTS site – we really should have taken a minute to read up on this place before setting off, but we made the decision so late in the day that we didn’t consider all the issues we might have. Anyway, we were told at the ticket desk that we had just missed the guided tour (you cannot self-guide around the palace buildings), so we decided to leave and find a café, but the lovely lady on the desk told us that we may be able to get on the tour as it had just started. We managed it, so, even though we were famished, we joined this informative and enjoyable tour - unfortunately all of the tapestries are down at the moment as they are repairing damage to the gallery that they normally hang in. This lasted over an hour, and though we should have gone to find food at the end of it decided to walk around the gardens to finish off our visit as we really had gone past the hungry stage by now. Even though we were ravenous throughout the visit we so enjoyed walking around this palace and its gardens, and would thoroughly recommend it.
翻译：我和妻子都是老年人，从英格兰中部来探望家人。一天工作日的上午，我们待在家里，正琢磨着去哪儿玩，这时谷歌搜索结果里出现了这个地方，真是太方便了，因为我们都是国家信托基金会（NTS）的会员。我们开车50分钟到了福克兰，因为之前没做任何功课，到了之后完全不知道该把车停在哪儿。不过我们很快就在Back Wynd找到了免费停车场（这处房产本身没有停车场），然后沿着小巷走了一小段路就到了宫殿。我们原本打算在宫殿的咖啡馆吃点东西，结果发现这处NTS景点根本没有咖啡馆——我们真应该出发前花点时间了解一下这个地方，可惜我们决定来的时候太晚了，没考虑到所有可能出现的问题。总之，我们在售票处被告知错过了导览（宫殿内不能自助参观），于是我们决定离开去找家咖啡馆。但售票处那位和蔼的女士告诉我们，导览刚刚开始，我们或许可以参加。我们最终还是赶上了，尽管当时我们饥肠辘辘，但还是参加了这场内容丰富、趣味盎然的导览——可惜的是，由于展厅正在维修，所有挂毯目前都已撤下。导览持续了一个多小时，虽然我们本应该在结束后找点吃的，但考虑到我们当时已经完全不饿了，所以决定在花园里散步，作为此次参观的结束。尽管整个参观过程中我们都饿得前胸贴后背，但我们仍然非常享受在这座宫殿及其花园中漫步的时光，强烈推荐大家来这里参观。
