黄果树盆景园的点评
点评：We flew to Guangzhou from Singapore and then transferred to a domestic flight to Guiyang. We arrived at Guiyang airport at about 1 pm and from the airport, we book a coach directly to Huangguoshu Waterfall. The coach only shuttled us at 3 pm. The transport charge is RMB 70. This is the shortest and most convenient way to reach Huangguoshu Waterfall. We also booked a hotel near the entrance of the attraction.
The following day at about 8 am, the hotel driver sent us over to the attraction. The admission ticket costs RMB 160 per pax but for seniors aged 65 and above, there is a discount of 50%.
The attraction is quite big and basically divided into 3 main sections: Doupotang Waterfall Scenic Area, Huangguoshu Waterfall, and Tianxingqiao Scenic Area. Most travel agencies would only cover the main Huangguoshu Waterfall and maybe Doupotang Waterfall areas. Tianxingqiao Scenic Area is very big and takes longer time to cover.
Many visitors started from the main waterfall and then explore the other two so that we can take photos before the crowds came. However, we decided to cover Tiangxingqiao (天星桥) then proceeded to main Huangguoshu Waterfall area(黄果树瀑布) and then to Doupotang (陡坡塘瀑布) which is a smaller area.
We were surprised to see a Bonsai Garden (盆景花园) at the entrance. There are a huge variety of bonsai and was told about 3000 bonsai pots. As it is the first stop near the entrance, it acts as a calm, aesthetic introduction before the dramatic waterfall. It gives a balance from delicate miniature beauty to massive natural force.
One travel guide pointed out that the cactus plants are more than 100 years old. Most tourists skip. My wife felt that the bonsai were not properly maintained and lack the aesthetic beauty. She is more interested in having a cup of coffee at Grandma's Kitchen Cafe.
