马岭河景区的点评
点评：The trip to Malinghe Scenic Area (马岭河峡谷) was initially not listed in my travel itinerary. I saw there is a public bus no. 301 at the bus terminal near my hotel and decided to visit this attraction. The bus fare is only RMB 3, but the bus journey took almost an hour. Nevertheless, I think this is a worthwhile trip.
The admission ticket is RMB35 per pax. The air is very refreshing here and the exploring route is like a U-shape. The entire exploration took more than 3 hours. If you want thrilling rafting and canyon exploration, Malinghe is ideal; if you want iconic scenery and sheer waterfall power, Huangguoshu Waterfall (黄果树瀑布) is unmatched. Seniors aged 65 and above are not allowed to take part in rafting or adventurous bungee activities and as such, we just hike around the canyon.
We did not pay for the lift elevator to descend to the canyon or ascend on our return. It costs about RMB 40 for both ways. One way is RMB 30. You would marvel at nature artistry as you climb up and down the stairs. At the end of the trek, my wife was happy with a cup of American coffee from a kiosk near the exit.
The place is not crowded and is very nature immersive. As you stroll along, you could listen to thunderous fall of the waterfall, the whispering of the streams and the chirping of the birds. It is very therapeutic to the mind.
