点评:The reason Toronto is where it is is because of the harbor. In a Lake Ontario anomaly, the erosion of the Scarborough bluffs produce islands in the lake that create a natural harbor the that the British quickly realized was the place to build their new North American colony of Upper Canada in town of York. Today the name has change and the skyline has changed but the harbor is still important to Canada's largest city and a great place to experience Toronto.
We had the chance to see the harbor from the skyscrapers downtown as well as the CN Tower our first day in the city. However, the best way to see and experience it is by visiting Toronto Islands as we did on our second day in the city. We crossed the harbor by taking the ferry across it and then got to paddleboard in it before going back across it via water taxi. The views of the city from the ferry, water taxi or paddleboard are amazing, possibly the best from anywhere. While there is considerable boat traffic in the harbor, the water is fairly calm and protected which makes it easy for almost everyone to experience it. Again, the harbor is a great asset for the city and something you should try to experience on your trip to Toronto.
