点评:The Ottawa Locks are the first 8 locks of the Rideau Canal that are located in the Colonel By Valley adjacent to the Ottawa River. They are an amazing highlight to any Ottawa visit that raise a boat 80' above the Ottawa River to the canal as it winds through the city, and they are totally free. These locks were a highlight of our visit as you can walk across them, and even better, we were able to see a boat pass through them. If you are lucky enough to see this, take time to watch as these locks are a UNESCO World Heritage site as they use the same technology as they did 200 years ago and the locks are open and closed by hand.
The canal has a total of 46 locks that lift the boats up to the Rideau lakes and then down to Kingston; however, nowhere are there more locks link together that raise a boat higher in one suite of locks as the 80' here. We were able to see it as a part of our afternoon walk through Ottawa on a Labor Day Sunday. The day was sunny blue skies and perfect for pictures. However, we were incredible fortunate to see a boat actually travel through them and the crew of four open and close the gates. Again, you have to see these locks and the canal as a part of any visit to Ottawa.
