Visit the old town and Catholic church within the wall
肇庆古城墙的点评
点评：My wife and I arrived at Zhaoqing’s Ancient Wall after walking around the old town’s streets and glancing at Zhaoqing Catholic Church (TA reviewed) which is inside the city wall. There were plenty of signs to guide us on our stroll.
The old town’s streets are well worth exploring.
Well, what can I say about and old city wall. Well, it goes around the old town, and it’s about five metres high and five metres wide, once you’ve climbed the steps up to the top it’s nice and flat, but be aware there are some steps, with a good view of the cities both old and new, which must be nice on a sunny day, but we were blessed with dull and drizzling weather.
We walked a part of the wall. We even passed Zhaoqing PiYun Building Tower (TA reviewed), and the modern Zhaoqing Museum. Both were closed as it was after 5 o’clock.
After an hour’s wall walking, we were tired and the light was fading, so we carefully came down the wet steps to the main road and got a cab back to the Zhaoqing Wyndham Downtown Hotel (TA reviewed) for dinner.
I reckon to walk all the wall would take around two to three hours. Set aside a day to explore the old town and the museum.
