An absolutely fantastic day out - DO NOT MISS!
Barkerville Historic Town & Park的点评
点评：We drove a really long way to get to Barkerville, as part of our family tour of BC and Alberta. Mostly our trip was focused on the National Parks and adventurous activities, but we really wanted to learn more about the history of the gold rush and this seemed the right place to go!
We had an absolutely wonderful time in Barkerville. We expected to be done by early afternoon but we were still there at 4:30 when it was beginning to close down! Our introductory tour was led by a costumed actor/character called Miss Florence Wilson and she was SUPERB! Funny, informative, entertaining. We enjoyed a lesson in the school, bought lots of sweets and a few souvenirs from the vintage shop, enjoyed hot drinks and cakes, and we all thought that the variety show in the theatre was excellent - well worth the upsold tickets at the theatre box office.
We learned so much about this fascinating time in BC’s history, and throughout the day we felt that Barkerville dealt openly, honestly and apologetically with the way that indigenous people and other immigrant groups (e.g. the Chinese) were treated by the Europeans. It was very thought provoking.
