Dalscone Farm Fun的点评
点评：Our first visit but as locals we’ve always felt bad for the livestock as we drive past because they have no trees or shelter in their fields; on hot days there’s nowhere for them to get shade. If they’d planted trees when they first started the park it would be so much better for the animals and for visitors.
Our eleven year old was quite upset after visiting the small animal experience. He hated seeing Fred the tortoise in an open viv table, which is too tempting for visitors to reach into, when it says that Fred doesn’t like being touched. Don’t put an animal that doesn’t like being handled somewhere where people will inevitably try and touch it.
The small animals are in too-small enclosures with very little enrichment; plastic plants are used instead of real ones in the vivariums, presumably because the staff lack the expertise and equipment to care for live plants. Yes, the animals all had food and water available but meeting the bare minimum welfare requirements with zero enrichment was saddening. We all left feeling fairly downbeat. When you compare it to even somewhere like Amazonia or Clyde Valley it doesn’t compare well; their animal environments are so much richer and better thought out than Dalscone’s.
The kids enjoyed the soft play and the go karts but I wouldn’t visit again.
Dalscone, get some trees planted in your fields and enrich your small animal experience for the animals’ sake. It would make it feel a lot less like you’re just out to grab everyone’s money at the animals’ expense. It needs to feel good for the animals and not just look good for the cameras.
