Amazing Blend of the Tradtional and Modern
西街的点评
点评：In the center of Yangshuo County, there is this well-known and famous 1400-year-old street named West Street. It is called “Foreigner’s Street” because of the number of tourists found here – 3 out of 4 people seen here are international tourists.
The street is not very big – in fact it is only 26 feet wide, 1696 feet long and meanders in a “S” -shape. While it feels modern with restaurants like KFC, Starbucks, McDonalds and Chagee, etc. it has maintained its historical roots with all the architecture dating back to ancient times. There are several restaurants with local cuisine, and we very much preferred those.
The best way to experience West Street is on foot walking on its historic blue-stone lanes. No cars are allowed, so you can walk freely shopping, taking pictures or unwinding at one of the restaurants – which is precisely what we did.
The Stores and the Restaurants have developed this street into a very prosperous one. It has been compared to the Wall Street of New York, Downing Street of London, the Avenue-de-Champs Elysee's of Paris and the Chang’an Avenue of Beijing. Do not know about that, but we just loved how it has managed to blend traditional culture and architecture with the modern Bars, Cafes and Handicraft Stores.
A “Must Visit” if you come to this area.
