Gwili Railway Experience
Gwili Railway的点评
点评：I visit a large number of heritage railways and, while the staff and volunteers are always friendly and helpful, occasionally you visit a railway where the volunteers genuinely make the experience special. I’m pleased to say that the Gwili Railway is one of these.
All the volunteers we met were lovely, warm and friendly and, most importantly, engaging. This seems to come from the genuine enthusiasm they have for working at, and being a part of, the Gwili Railway.
We were entitled to a discount on the fare, but having seen the normal ticket price and then experienced not only the train ride but the whole experience, I can say that the fare is well worth the money.
We were there for a little over two hours, which included the train ride, following the river at a leisurely pace, and a stop at Danycoed, where we explored the exhibits and museum and enjoyed tea and cake. There is also a miniature railway and a play area for children.
There is an interesting collection of locomotives and rolling stock, and being pulled through the beautiful Welsh countryside by a locomotive in London Transport livery was both unexpected and wonderfully surreal.
The railway is obviously still developing, with a lot of work being undertaken, but this adds to the sense that you are seeing something that is continuing to grow.
It was a great day out for me as a railway enthusiast, and for my wife, who particularly loved the views and countryside.
