点评：I finally made it to Amboseli after years of hearing about it, and it absolutely lived up to the hype—maybe even exceeded it in some ways. This isn’t your typical crowded safari spot; it feels raw and intimate, especially with that massive snow-capped Kilimanjaro looming in the background like a giant postcard that never gets old.
The landscape is what hits you first. Vast open plains dotted with acacia trees, dusty red earth, and seasonal swamps that draw the animals in close. We drove right up to herds of elephants—big families with tiny calves kicking up dust—and watched them splash around in the water. The park is famous for its elephants, and seeing them against the mountain backdrop is something you don’t forget. Lions were around too, though a bit shyer, and we spotted cheetahs on the hunt one morning. Zebras, giraffes, hippos in the swamps, and hundreds of birds everywhere. It’s not the densest wildlife I’ve seen in Kenya, but the views make every sighting feel special.
I stayed at a tented camp just outside the park and did early morning and late afternoon game drives. The light at sunrise is unreal—pink and gold on the mountain. Afternoons can get hot and dusty, but that’s when the animals gather near the water sources. Pro tip: bring good binoculars and a scarf for the dust. We had a fantastic guide who knew every twist in the tracks and could spot a camouflaged animal from hundreds of meters away.
