点评：We took the snowcoach summit expedition tour. If you find the regular snowcoach tour intriguing, the rare summit expedition is a must. It is a 2 1/2 hour round trip. They give you approximately 20 minutes on the summit. The wind is so extreme that not many stay out that long. If you end up in the back row of the van, you are going to want to have your gear ready. The back seat is packed tight if 4 people are back there and you don’t have the ability to get face masks and gloves out very easily. Having them ready when you first get in is essential. Make sure you have some sort of heavy duty face mask because the wind will even cut through that and take your breath away.
We rode with Ray. He was really funny and informative the whole time. He started out joking that he was just the dishwasher and one of the drivers called out sick. He then proceeded to go into a lot of detail on previous trips he has driven to the summit and funny stories from his driving experience. A lot of his stories were memorable and detailed history of the mountain. He even included a lot of information about the summit during the winter and previous trips to the summit in the winter.
Once on the summit, you have the chance to walk up a small path to the mount Washington summit sign. They give you windchill was -31F and wind gusts were close to 50 MPH, but the visibility was roughly 90 miles. Breathtaking wind and views. If they let you out on the summit, make sure you listen to the drivers’ instructions.
