Hellidon Lakes Golf Course的点评
点评：The hotel is great, rooms nice, food way above our expectations, attentive staff. Very few people in hotel which meant we were always served quickly, plenty of tables etc.
The course was a slightly different story. It is a very undulating picturesque course with some stunning views. There was no one in the pro shop on day 1 or 2 of our 3 day stay. The hotel reception tried to help as best they could. The course was very undulating and challenging but we found it fun to play. The main problem being signage around the course. At times it was almost impossible to work out where the next tee box was and once we found it (actually the wrong one a couple of times) it wasn’t easy to work out where the green was. This was sometimes due to the three 9 hole loops interweaving with each other (the coloured flags on each loop helped here) but mainly due to lack of signage. It wouldn’t take much money or time to put this simple thing in place.
Just an aside: Hellidon loop is very undulating with some of the holes on such a camber it was almost impossible for your ball to not always roll down to the lowest point if you aren’t a long hitter (as a group of ladies most of us are not). Lakes loop was the best and actually enjoyable once you knew where you were going. Valleys was very hard going, almost impossible to find your way, tee boxes without colours or directions (our group actually teed off from different tee boxes on a couple of the holes making the competition null and void) and the final push back to the hotel is gruelling!!!! Again like the hotel we more or less had the course to ourselves rarely seeing another golfer for hours at a time.

至于高尔夫球场，情况则稍有不同。这是一座地形起伏、风景如画的球场，视野极美。在我们三天的入住期间，第一天和第二天 pro shop里都没人。酒店前台也尽力提供帮助。球场地形起伏较大，颇具挑战性，但我们觉得打球的过程很有乐趣。主要问题在于球场的标识系统。有时候几乎根本无法判断下一个发球台在哪里；即便找到了（有几次其实找错了），也很难确定果岭的位置。出现这种情况一方面是因为三条9洞路线相互交错（每条路线上的彩色旗帜对此有一定帮助），但最主要的原因还是缺乏明显的标识。其实只需投入很少的资金和时间，就能解决这个简单的问题。顺便提一下：Hellidon环道的地形起伏很大，有些球洞的倾斜角度使得如果你击球距离不够远（我们这群女士大多如此），球几乎注定会滚到最低点。而 Lakes环道则是最棒的，一旦弄清楚路线后打起来也相当有趣。至于Valleys环道则极其难走，几乎找不到方向。没有颜色标识或方向指引的发球台（我们组实际上有几洞是从不同的发球台开球的，导致比赛完全失去了意义）。而最后从球场返回酒店的路程也极其艰辛!!!! 和酒店情况类似，我们几乎独占整个球场，好几个小时都见不到其他高尔夫球手。
