A must if you visit Punta Sur

We visited Punta Sur on Isla Mujeres in May 2026 and absolutely loved the experience. The views are unbelievable, especially standing at the southernmost point of the island and looking out over the turquoise Caribbean. 🌊☀️ We spent a good 2 and a half hours exploring.
There was also lots of parking for our golf cart, which made stopping here really easy. And if you love wildlife, you’re in for a treat. There were SO many iguanas everywhere! 🦎 They were definitely one of the highlights of the visit.
We also stopped for lunch at Acantilado Restaurant. The food was decent, although nothing particularly special. The service was good, the staff were friendly, and the prices were fair, so it was a convenient place to grab something to eat while exploring the area.
One thing that was frustrating, however, was the admission situation. We were told that the cost to explore the end of Punta Sur was $8 USD per person. The gentleman told us that if we purchased something at the gift shop, we could get in by showing our receipt. We did exactly that, but unfortunately they did not honour what we had been told, so we ended up paying the entrance fee anyway. It was disappointing, especially because we had specifically purchased something based on that information.
Overall, though, Punta Sur is absolutely worth visiting. The scenery, wildlife, and views are incredible, and it’s a great stop when exploring Isla Mujeres by golf cart. Just be aware of the entrance fee and make sure you clarify exactly what is included before purchasing anything at the gift shop.
