点评:Bibury’s claim to fame rests almost entirely on the Arlington Row, a picturesque terrace row of weavers' cottages that overlook water meadows.
Built around 1380, the terrace was originally a wool store for the local monastery but was converted to cottages in the 17th century.
It really is very, very scenic and usually appears right at the top of any ‘most photographed spots in the UK’ list. However don’t expect to get a perfect photograph. You will be likely to have lots of other people appearing in it. You’d have to be committed to arriving at some ungodly hour of the morning to get a photo free of other people.
Bibury is such a tiny village that it is ill-equipped to handle the number of tourists, cars and coaches that swarm here in the spring and summer months. Parking was a nightmare when we were there and we ended up parking some way out of the village and walking back.
Apart from Arlington Row, there is not a lot else to see or do at Bibury.
Unless you are very keen to see Arlington Row, I probably wouldn’t recommend going out of your way to drive here. If like us, you are staying nearby, then it’s definitely worth it - just try and go early in the morning to beat the worst of the crowd.
