点评:There are a few negative reviews on here about navigating these gardens on a wheelchair. If you have a reasonably powerful electric wheelchair or mobility scooter, you should be fine on the marked wheelchair route, which is very easy to follow.
There are a couple of points where the ascent gradient is slightly challenging, and you might need a carer to push you, or approach at a higher speed than you’d normally choose for pottering around beautiful gardens. A cheap folding boot scooter or an underpowered electric chair could well struggle at these points, but any kit designed for outdoor use will likely be okay.
The path surface is comfortable tarmac for most of the route. There are a few sections with block or crazed paving, in a couple of places this is uneven enough to affect steering, but generally the going is very good. The path is mostly around 1.5m wide, with lots of passing places for buggy pushers and fellow wheelers, and I found somewhere convenient to back away from the path and recline my powerchair fully at most of the particularly scenic spots. There aren’t any super-awkward turns, my guess is that even the largest of mobility scooters would be fine at every twist and junction.
All that aside, the gardens are glorious, beautifully designed and maintained with some really good sculpture and quirky features, so well worth a visit.
