点评:Our extensive tour of the Palace Museum ended with a rest stop in the Imperial Gardens.
The Gardens itself are not huge, but were packed with flowering trees, benches in shady areas, large, unusual limestone rocks imported from a quarry, little water features and interesting sculptures (like the elephant one sitting awkwardly). The various “seasonal” Pavilions around the gardens are also gorgeous – the summer one is open-air, whereas the winter one is enclosed with a large dome with paintings and carvings all around it.
It was nice to stop for a little bit just enjoying the nicely maintained surroundings. The setting felt relaxing and peaceful in spite of the crowds (Maybe, because we were exhausted, but so were the other people). Everyone was just relaxing, looking around or taking photos.
Make sure you stop here – it is very worth the extra time.
