点评:The Huangpu River is the biggest river in central Shanghai. It is 1312 feet wide and 30 feet deep. The 70-mile length gave it the name of “Mother River”. It divides the city into two contrasting worlds – On the western bank lies Puxi with its century-old architecture on the Bund and on the eastern bank Pudong boasts of a skyline that looks like it is from the future where the iconic Oriental Pearl Tower, the Jin Mao Tower, the World Financial Center and the Shanghai Tower dominate the skyline.
The River Cruise was advertised as “a trip through time and space”, so we decided to take that one-hour Cruise. It was not too crowded, so we were able to walk around and take a bunch of photos of Shanghai at its cinematic best.
The Cruise was a very relaxing one. We passed through historic docks, shipyards and former industrial zones that have now been transformed into creative neighborhoods. The perspective of the city was completely different from that seen from a car or a bus tour. The visual experience of seeing the old and new neighborhoods float by was simply astounding.
We would have loved to take the night cruise with all the lights, but it was not possible due to time constraints, so we took the afternoon one. It was a wonderful experience.
