Come for the elephants, stay for the people

点评：Just finished a 3-day stay at EFV and am so glad I did.
The elephants are the star attraction of course. I learned about their feeding and care, hiked through the forest with them, bathed them, and wrestled with adorable naughty babies Moana and Maui. The sanctuary is very ethical towards its elephants—their wellbeing comes first.
But not to be diminished was the larger experience culturally and experientially. Non and his family were so kind and hospitable. I got to learn about the culture of the Karen people, ate delicious food, and got to feel firsthand the life in Northern Thailand’s rural hill country. It was a great respite from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok, and of my city life back home.
If you’re looking for more than just a vacation and want to immerse yourself in a rich and fulfilling adventure off the beaten path, I can’t recommend this place enough.
