Poor communication, poor experience
Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre的点评
点评:This is our second time at the Troubador Wembley Park Theatre and I'm very disappointed in it.
The venue seems very inconsistent as the first time we visited for Newsies it was an immersive performance and they didn't want to check our bags but this time it's not an immersive performance for I'm Every Woman there was a row of people checking bags. You'd think they'd prioritise bag checks when the cast are around the audience over when they're not.
Once we arrived at the theatre we were stood in the foyer, if we can call it that, for an hour. At half seven (the shows start time) we were told it was delayed with no reason given or time frame, just told we could sit in the restaurant if we needed a seat but not to all go as there's not that many chairs. We continued to wait indefinitely in this tarmac floored metal shed which is the least interesting place to be standing to be told ten minutes later that it was cancelled due to cast illness. Whilst I have no problem with this as a reason as it happens sometimes and with it being a new show I understand they can't bring back someone else to cover the part but the way it was communicated was unacceptable.
For the hour before they cancelled all the staff were madly running back and forth between the auditorium and the foyer. You could tell they were being fed information through their earpieces but whenever someone asked what was going on they said nothing or said the show started at 7:30 even when it was 7:15 and we were all still in the foyer. The lack of communication was like being at an airport, I would rather be told the reason earlier rather than stood there not knowing and very bored. At least with prior knowledge the evening could have been saved and could've seen another show instead but not when we're only told it's cancelled at 7:45 and we're 15 minutes away from central London.
The man apologised on the microphone telling everyone they'd get a full refund and a ticket to any performance before the run ends but the papers being given out made no mention of that so who knows if that's being kept to. It is also not convenient to do so when the show ends in 24 days and there are events on at the stadium for two of those weekends making booking a stay in the area impossible for most who work and don't live nearby. They also have made the audience responsible for getting their own refund if not booked through the theatre and the only proof to show that it was cancelled is a bit of yellow paper.
I am very disappointed in the way the theatre had handled the situation. I understand the production had a part in this too but communication from anyone to apologise for the delay earlier would have been nice to show appreciation for the audience who paid to be there.
