点评：On Day 5 of its eight-day exploration of the Davis Strait and Baffin Bay called “West Greenland Ice Odyssey: Glaciers and Icebergs,” on August 15, 2025, Quark Expeditions brought its polar ship, the “Ultramarine,” south from Eqip Sermia, 43 miles north of Ilulissat, and entered Disko Bugt (Disko Bay) 69o 15.1’ N, 051o 11.9’ W.
If capturing views of monumental icebergs is on your list of things to experience this time around, an expedition that includes Disko Bugt might serve you well.
The sun rose at 05:31 and set at 23:24, making for a long day and a very short night. Air temperature was 4.5o C, and water temperature was 6 o C.
This was a ship’s cruise day as we explored the bay, so there were no Zodiac expeditions. The birders and other wildlife spotters, however, were busy from the ship’s deck, spotting northern fulmar, sooty shearwater, black-legged kittiwake, great black-backed and lesser black-backed gull, glaucous gull, Iceland gull, thick-billed murre, raven, northern wheatear, snow bunting, harp seal, fin whale, and humpback whale.
