点评：Richie, the owner of Delta Discovery Tours, took us out for an amazing boat tour of the Mississippi River’s Bird Foot Delta! If you are hoping to experience and learn about the natural and cultural history of this unique area this is a once in a lifetime experience for you. It’s obvious that Richie loves this area and is willing to share his deep knowledge and passion with visitors.
The tour exceeded our expectations in wildlife viewings, birding, and seeing first hand the Mississippi River’s important shipping role in this Delta Area. We learned about the habitat of the area, dredging, history of Pilot Island, Mile Zero on the Mississippi River, fishing, bird migrations. We encountered a pair of dolphins that swam with our boat, a rosette spoon bill, pelicans and so many more unique plants and wildlife that make their home here. We even found a sealed message in a bottle on a remote sand beach!!!
Even though we boated miles into the Delta, we felt safe. Delta Discover Tours boat is stable, comfortable, has a canopy to shield from the sun and easy to get on and off for bathroom stops and exploring.
And, also consider staying at the “Writer’s Cabin” before and after your Discovery Tour!
All in all, without question great value for your $. We highly recommend!
