The Bamboo Rafting and the Scenery was Breathtaking and Spectacular

点评：Our tour company booked us on the Bamboo Rafting Trip as per our wishes on the 26-mile Yulong River (also called the Little Li River). The 70-minute premier route from Jima Wharf to the Gongnong Bridge covering the southern part of the Yulong River is simply idyllic. The breathtaking scenery was spectacular despite the rain and the worry that the river may be a little high along the shores.
The rafter used a pole to guide the bamboo raft. There were nine dams along the route. They did warn us that we would get wet with splashing water when the raft thuds over the dams. Luckily, the weather made us buy long plastic boots and raincoats right at the wharf and we were protected from above by a huge colorful umbrella. So, we emerged dry after our trip
There are no words to describe what we were seeing and feeling as we floated along. Imagine a classic watercolor painting of a serene river with lush forests on the sides and rolling limestone karsts and steep dramatic cliffs in the front – yes, we felt like we were moving past that vision in a live version of that painting…. What a tranquil alternative to the busy tourist cities.
The languid river is not just surrounded by a dramatic landscape. We also delighted in the pristine and picturesque scenes of simple rural life such as bamboo waterwheels irrigating the paddy fields, flocks of ducks and geese swimming around, horses, cows and buffaloes grazing around, etc. Looking at this kind of stuff allows busy tourists to relax and experience a sense of calm.
This amazing landscape has inspired the scenery on the back of a 20 Yuan note.
I am usually a little nervous being so low on the water. But honestly, I felt quite safe on that slow raft ride, and would recommend this popular activity to others like me. Glad to have checked it off my bucket list.
