点评:We had been to the gardens and the Agricultural Museum previously on that occasion the castle was not open to tours and really enjoyed the fabulous gardens. The museum is great a fascinating look at the machinery ,tools and the skills that sadly are disappearing .So we paid €16 each to get the guided tour .The guide was Maurice who seem to rely on his notes for the whole tour and could not expand apart from names and dates. When questioned about objects in the rooms as to the use etc he had little knowledge and discouraged people to take time to look at items in the rooms but rather stand and listen to a short bullet point list of dates and not being able to expand on any questions ,I felt the tour was more a talk about Maurice himself than the castle .We all learned that he worked as a sales rep selling office equipment and the castle was one of his calls, That he had a large house set in an acre of land overlooking the bridge in Gorey with a full-size snooker table because he was a very good player, That he had a music room because he played the guitar and other instruments very well ,that he had met Paul McCartney from the beetles and even had part of the stage they played on in Dublin, when asked about the old irons in the kitchen he was not sure about the different uses but he had one at home to iron his snooker table. He talked about how a young relation to the last owners of the castle worked a summer at the castle and when his parents were invited to a dinner at the castle in their honour with people from the heritage trust they only wanted to talk to him about his connection to the beetles .When in the tunnel at the end of the tour two people had to leave to make an appointment in Gorey he seemed annoyed as they would not hear him give a rendition of “At Boolavogue” as we headed for exit. Which we all were thankful for
It is a pity I cant recall much about the history of the castle as well as the history of “Maurice”
I would like to go again and do the castle tour to find out more about the castle .but will be sure ask who the guide is first

遗憾的是,我记不起太多关于城堡的历史以及“莫里斯”的历史
我想再去一次,参加城堡之旅,了解更多关于城堡的信息。但一定要先问导游是谁
