Capitain Ziggy is Disappointing and overpriced

点评：I booked a three-day, two-night felucca trip with Captain Ziggy after finding him recommended in the Lonely Planet guide. Given his reputation and long experience on the Nile, I had very high expectations. Unfortunately, the reality was very different.
The trip was significantly overpriced for what was provided, and what I expected to be a relaxing and interesting experience on the Nile instead became an uncomfortable one.
What disappointed me most was the constant commercial pressure. There were repeated attempts to persuade me to buy additional things and services at what I considered inflated prices, including beer and other travel services. The overall impression was that there was always an opportunity to make more money from the guest.
Based on my experience, I found Captain Ziggy’s approach greedy and excessively focused on money. Even when hospitality was offered by the locals, I often felt pressure from him to give money back afterward. This made what should have been genuine Egyptian hospitality feel transactional and uncomfortable.
Another major disappointment was that Captain Ziggy often seemed more interested in watching TikTok on his phone than actually sailing or engaging with the experience. Given that I chose him specifically because of his reputation as an experienced local seafarer, this was particularly frustrating.
I acknowledge that Captain Ziggy has a good local reputation and that many travelers may have had positive experiences with him. Unfortunately, my experience did not match that reputation.
I went into this trip expecting three days of authentic Egyptian hospitality, sailing, conversation, and relaxation. Instead, I experienced poor value for money, constant commercial pressure, and a captain who often seemed more interested in his phone than in providing the experience I had paid for.
Based on my experience, I would not recommend this trip.
