Finca La Amistad Cocoa Farm的点评
点评：This organic chocolate farm is in Costa Rica, not in Switzerland!
A four wheel drive is helpful to get to this location. This working farm is alive with toucans and other tropical birds visible during the day, and tapirs that scavenge guava on the grounds at night. This is not a luxury resort, but an opportunity to learn. Expect to have some bug bites since only these tiny mosquitos/no-see-ums pollinate the cacao plants. Please be extremely careful with the use of any bug spray! The farm and production workers are very friendly to the guests, but they are busy working the farm. Just a few workers are dedicated to the guests, and they are readily found at the main lodge. The farm tour (included with stay) and chocolate making workshop (extra charge) are fantastic. The chocolate bars are sealed well for travel, but we also had a cooler in our rental car. The breakfast (included) and dinner (extra charge) are delicious and filling. If you opt to hike the trail around the farm property, take a walking stick from the lodge, wear the provided rubber boots (it’s muddy), and do not grab the trees for support since the snakes can be extremely well camouflaged in the trees. A casual pace took us about 1.5 hours. Each night guests can sign up for one hour to use the ‘spa’, which consists of two wooden framed pools (one cold, one almost hot). Not all accommodations have a/c, so just read the room descriptions carefully. We reflect fondly on our experience here: the delicious chocolate and food, the evening fires at dinner, the amazing wildlife, the hands-on education, the kindness of the staff and the other international guests, and the beauty of the environment. For our curious minds, this was a brief return to childhood.
