Carlisle Castle的点评
点评：Carlisle castle has been a military center for almost two thousand years so its not surprizing that it may look a little tired. The keep was built by two kings, King Henry I (1122 - 1135) and king David I of Scotland. (c1084 - 1153) The only castle ever built by both an English and a Scottish King. There are plenty of things to see on this site including two museums however, I advice going on one of the three regular daily tours given by the tour guides who explain things clearly with absolute tons of knowledge about what you are looking at.
There is a small cafe on site. Be aware that there are a lot of steps within the castle and onto the battlement around the top of the castle so a nice slow steady pace for people less mobile is needed. The staff are friendly and helpful as are the tour guides. A dog friendly complex.
A must to visit when coming to Carlisle. Admission fee is a little on the steep side however these kind of English Heritage places take a lot to maintain so the cost can be accounted for. The length of visit depends on how in depth you want to know about the Castle.
