点评：Meru National Park is my favorite park for many reasons I’ve visited many times but in 20 December 2025, my group witnessed a disturbing encounter. Our vehicle passed a KWS vehicle stopped on the side of the road inside the park and we saw three people (at least 2 were KWS staff) next to a group of yellow-necked spurfowl. The driver had a sling shot in his hands pointing at one of the fowls. The two others were laughing. Obviously, they were trying to kill some for their own consumption. This is deplorable. These are people that are allegedly hired to protect the wildlife in the park and educate people about conservation. Instead they are killing the wildlife in front of guests for their dinner. This is disgusting and inexcusable behavior. We have the names of the KWS staff and many witnesses that are just as appalled. This is not a good look for KWS and the Meru National park. These people should have their employment terminated since they are not doing their job and worst of all, they are not serious about conservation. They give the whole organization a bad name. The whole day was a bust. We couldn’t get into the park at 7:30 am because the same person who was seen in the vehicle would not let us because she wasn’t “allowed.” So we had to wait for her colleague. This woman is ignorant and does not strive to do her best, nor does she care about the job she was hired to do. I will be in touch with the warden of the park next.
